This past week, Feist announced the release date, October 4, for her new album, Metals. It’s been four long years since her last album, The Reminder, and three long years since she last graced U.S. stages. In addition to the album, she also announced tour dates for the U.S. taking place in November… unfortunately for me the San Francisco date at the Warfield has not been confirmed… but check out her website listentofeist.com for a couple of vignettes and bits of music to tempt our aural pleasure zones.
If you are a fan then you know how exciting a new Feist album is… and if you have not had the pleasure of seeing her live, make sure you try to see her this time around. I was able to catch her at the Greek in Berkeley when she last toured and was blown away by her performance. Not only a musical joy but melding art and stage production for an all around fantastic experience… all dripping with that magnificent voice and her magnetic presence. If you couldn’t tell… I have a thing for her… but it’s the music that trumps all.
Her work with Broken Social Scene may have helped propel her solo career… her first album, Let It Die, propped her up onto an indie altar… and her second onto the world stage… what will Metals bring us?
She taught us all to count,
