Star Wars Uncut

This post is for my fellow Star Wars geeks…

For the last 34 years, Star Wars fans have found all sorts of ways to both honor and ridicule their beloved film series.  One particular fan, Casey Pugh, came up with a completely new and fantastic approach… remake the film, but do so in 473 15 second clips filmed and/or animated by different people worldwide and edited together to comprise one finished product.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Pugh set up a website where people could “claim” up to three 15 second scenes and send them in.  Within a week all of the scenes were claimed, and in six month he had received almost 1000 submissions from all over the globe.  The result is a jarring and oftentimes hilarious film…

Some of the clips are poorly done… others obviously have some serious film making equipment.  Some of the best are artistic and beautiful, while others are just plain weird.  One of my favorite clips involve a young girl and her dog as Han Solo and Chewbacca (shown below). What ultimately comes across is a cohesive and wonderful collage or mosaic of movie.

Solo and Chewie

You can visit the website by following this link to see not only the full movie but also a collection of the best 50 scenes as well as view scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut.  Enjoy the trailer below… and remember, the force will be with you… always.
